Mr. R. Prabhakar is a distinguished former Assistant Commissioner of Customs with the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), Government of India, bringing over 35 years of exemplary service in Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax administration. Beginning his career as an Inspector of Customs in 1980, he rose through the ranks to become Assistant Commissioner in 2014, serving in several strategic assignments across customs operations, investigations, adjudication, appraisement, audits and trade facilitation.

During his tenure as Assistant Commissioner at ICD Tughlakabad, he headed the Special Intelligence & Investigation Branch (Export) and was entrusted with the additional charge of Recovery, successfully recovering over ₹117 crore for the Government. Throughout his career, he served at key customs formations including ICD Pragati Maidan, ICD Tughlakabad, Air Cargo Complex, Indira Gandhi International Airport and New Customs House.

Mr. Prabhakar made significant contributions to customs administration by preparing the operational blueprint for ICD Panipat, drafting the Public Notice for Export Warehouse operations, handling Brand Rate Fixation under the Drawback Scheme and serving in the Adjudication Branch. He was also the first officer from his Department selected as a "Train the Trainer" participant at NACIN under the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Audit Programme.

Before joining the Customs Department in 1980, he served with the Directorate General of Supplies & Disposals (DGS&D), where he gained valuable experience in government procurement and public administration. He subsequently worked in the Ministry of Home Affairs, further strengthening his understanding of governance, regulatory processes and public service before embarking on his long and fulfilling career in Customs.

Today, with over 40 years of experience, Mr. Prabhakar leverages his extensive experience to advise businesses on customs compliance, international trade regulations, import-export procedures and regulatory risk management, helping organizations navigate India's complex trade and customs ecosystem with confidence.
